Spanish Government approves EUR550 million for military overseas operations

Spain’s government has approved a EUR550 million (USD677 million) credit from its contingency funds to go toward the cost associated with overseas military peacekeeping missions for 2018. It was announced by the cabinet on the 2nd of March, and the funding comes when the country is still rolling over its budget from 2017 until the minority conservative Partido Popular (PP) government finds sufficient support to present a new one to parliament. This method of paying is regular practice in Spain, given the restraints put on┬áspending by the Ministry of Defense (especially since the 2008 economic crisis).
